Cosmetic Dermatology Mission Viejo

Aging, genetics and sun exposure can affect the way your skin looks, as modern medicine evolves more and more options crop up to treat wrinkles, spider veins, acne and dark pigmentation. At Tayani Institute, our dermatologist, Dr. John Martinez, offers a full selection of cosmetic dermatology services to treat your skin concerns.
He takes the time to listen to your skin concerns and works with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Here are some of the cosmetic concerns that Dr. Martinez treats:

Acne is among the most common of skin conditions. There are a variety of ways to treat acne, ranging from over-the-counter topical medication to antibiotics to chemical peels. Laser acne treatment can dry and flatten pimples, and decrease the amount of oil produced by the skin. Once active acne has been controlled, laser skin resurfacing can reduce the appearance of scarring.

Sun exposure, pregnancy, injury or inflammation can cause the skin to increase its production of pigment, resulting in patchy brown spots. Pigmentation can be treated with over-the-counter topical products, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and even some lasers. Dr. Martinez  tailors treatment to your specific needs and bases his recommendations on your skin type and tone.

Depending on the severity of the wrinkles, Dr. Martinez has several options for treatment, including the following:

  • Botox to freeze the wrinkle-producing muscles
  • Dermal fillers to smooth fine lines around the eyes and lips
  • Chemical peels to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin
  • Fractional laser skin resurfacing to stimulate the production of collagen for new, healthy skin

Spider Veins

It’s not uncommon to develop embarrassing spider veins on your legs, especially if you are older, as spider veins tend to crop up with age. Spider veins are often treated with sclerotherapy (the injection of sclerosing fluid into the vein to dissolve it). Laser therapy is newer option that has yielded excellent results.

Mole Mapping

Most moles and birthmarks are benign, but any changes in their appearance may be cause for concern. Mole mapping is a tool to help Dr. Martinez identify any subtle changes in your moles which could indicate early signs of skin cancer.
