About Dr. Guck
Optometrist Dr. Guck is a third-generation optometrist and has loved the field of eye care since he was a young child sitting as a patient for his grandfather. Dr. Guck received his bachelor’s degree in Biology with an emphasis in Medical Sciences from Concordia University Irvine while competing as a student athlete in water polo and triathlon.
Dr. Guck began his optometric education at the prestigious Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon. Dr. Guck honed his knowledge in the classroom and perfected his clinical skills as a Teaching Assistant for many of the classes at Pacific University. Throughout optometry school, he acquired additional training in specialty contact lenses, advanced imaging techniques, and neurological conditions.
As part of his clinical education, Dr. Guck trained at the distinguished Lebanon VA Hospital in Lebanon, PA. This training concentrated in ocular disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Guck also trained at the renowned Navy Medical Hospital in San Diego, CA, where he served members of the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps. He regularly fit patients in scleral contact lenses as treatment for corneal diseases such as keratoconus and dry-eye syndrome. He also provided high performance glasses and contact lens solutions for members in the aviation and special operations communities while at the many military bases in San Diego.
Dr. Guck grew up in Dana Point, CA and he loves all that beautiful Southern California has to offer. When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Guck enjoys fishing, spearfishing, woodworking, and cooking delicious meals for his wife, Katie.
