About Dr. Berke
Dr. Berke graduated from HOFSTRA University, Hempstead, New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1966. He received his Doctorate in Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1970, graduating Cum Laude. Dr. Bill Berke is an optometric physician and orthokeratologist in practice in Santa Ana, CA, since 1978. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (FAAOMC) and the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (FIAOMC).
Dr. Berke specializes in Orthokeratology. Ortho-K is a revolutionary safe and effective, FDA approved procedure since 2002 that is a safe alternative to laser eye surgeries.
Dr. Berke leads in the field of Ortho-K with his newly patented lens designs and methods of fitting. His lens design is strictly custom made and a One-Lens-One-Eye® design. Dr. Berke is a fellow of the Academy and has lectured at the international forum more than ten years on the subject of Ortho-K and has published several papers and studies. The results of his university study at the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA, have shed new light on the physiology of what really happens to the cornea from Ortho-k. Doctor Berke is one of the world’s few designers of Ortho-K corneal molds and holds several US patents on orthokeratological lens designs and methods of fitting.
