Alan Lanier, O.D.
Optometrist
About Dr. Lanier
Dr. Alan Lanier is an optometrist at Tayani Eye Institute, a surgical practice where optometrists and ophthalmologists work side by side, and is fluent in Spanish.
A Grand Rapids, Michigan native, he started his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University in New York before completing a double major in Biomedical Sciences and Spanish at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, along with coursework in bioethics and philosophy at the University of Oxford in England. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry, graduating with high distinction.
He completed clinical rotations at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina, Tayani Eye Institute in Southern California, and Chico Eye Center in Northern California.
Dr. Lanier received the AAOF/VSP Practice Excellence Award, given to the student selected by faculty for the strongest clinical reputation and academic record, and serves as President of the Student Optometric Leadership Network. Outside of patient care, he mentors students pursuing careers in optometry and medicine.
He recently moved to Southern California from Michigan and has been glad to call it home. Outside the clinic he plays guitar, reads, exercises, and spends time outdoors. What drives him most is helping people become their best selves, through better eyesight or through learning.
