Tayani Institute has been providing the highest quality of vision and ophthalmology care, and cosmetic surgical procedures since 2000. The practice has locations throughout Orange and San Diego County, including San Clemente, Laguna Hills, Irvine, Oceanside, Needles, Big Bear, Santa Ana, and Brea, California.
At Tayani Institute, pediatric and adult patients have direct access to a team of highly skilled practitioners, including board-certified ophthalmologists and plastic surgeons. Their mission is to preserve each patient’s vision and enhance their appearance, since vision and appearance are vital to a patient’s physical and emotional well-being.
Each practice location is equipped with the latest technologies to ensure the best results for patients. The team can provide cataract and glaucoma surgery, eyelid surgery, brow lifts, and a host of cosmetic surgeries, to name a few.
Tayani Institute’s in-house laboratory at the Santa Ana location uses state of the art “green” optical technology to grind and create lenses to correct all kinds of vision issues. We specialize in lens technologies including ultrathin, ultralite, UV, coatings and impact protection; from single vision to progressive addition.
Tayani Institute practitioners are dedicated to ensuring patients receive the care they need in a comfortable and compassionate environment. The team offers flexible scheduling throughout the week, including evening and weekend hours at certain locations. Tayani Institute welcomes new and existing patients to the practice.
History of Tayani Institute
2000-2003
Tayani Institute was established on March 27, 2000. Built from the ground up in San Clemente starting with a 937 sf office. For 3 years Dr. Tayani worked hard establishing contracts with all the various insurance companies and building a presence, as well as a name in the industry.
In 2003 Tayani Institute expanded the office to become 2,000 square feet in San Clemente and opened satellite offices in Irvine and surrounding mountain areas.
2005-2008
In May of 2005 Dr. Tayani brought on an associate, Peter Joson, M.D. a general ophthalmologist with sub-specialty training in glaucoma.
In 2008 The practice opened its state of the art ASC, The West Coast Center for Surgeries in San Clemente California and further expanded its local practice with a 5,000 square foot office in Mission Viejo.
2009
The practice acquired a cosmetic practice for laser hair reduction and housed it in the Mission Viejo complex. Later, this became Dermabare inside Lifetime Fitness. The med spa provides Botox, Fillers, IPL treatment, IV Therapy, Morpheus8, LHR, and many other skin rejuvenation treatments.
2011
With the help of Dr. Rebecca Ng, Tayani Institute entered the world of optometry and opened an office in Laguna Hills. The practice contracted with various vision plans. Tayani Institute’s optometry division grew to a strong team of 6 optometrists and now provides optical services at multiple locations.
2017-2021
In 2017 Tayani Institute acquired a practice in Oceanside, California and expanded into our 6th office location with Dr. Asha Nuthi as our Medical Retina doctor.
In 2021 Super Vision Center in Santa Ana merged with Tayani Institute and added Dr. Bill Berke to the highly accomplished list of Optometrists. Dr. Berke is a leader in the field of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and holds several US patents on orthokeratological lens designs and methods of fitting.
2022-2023
Dr. Jan Lukac’s practice, Brea Eye Care, merged with Tayani Institute in January 2022. Saddleback Eye Medical Associates located in Mission Viejo merged with Tayani Institute in May 2022. This partnership added ophthalmologist Dr. Gwynn and optometrist Dr. Hsieh, to the team.
Dr. Lydia Banuelos, a fellowship trained pediatric ophthalmologist joined the team of physicians and surgeons in 2023, bringing with her expertise of pediatric and adult Strabismus Surgery.
2024
Tayani Institute’s Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills locations merged into 1 office located off La Paz and the 5 freeway. This new building, owned by Tayani Institute, features its own optical boutique, on-site testing, state-of-the-art equipment and free parking.
2 practices in Oceanside merged with Tayani Institute, welcoming optometrists Dr. Ring and Dr. Kang. In May and July Dr. Karageozian, general ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience, and Dr. Elledge, an ophthalmologist specializing in corneal diseases, joined the team of physicians and surgeons.
